Packing Tips From Professional Movers
Updated: Sep 17
Good packing makes moving day faster and keeps your things safe. These are the tips our crews wish every customer knew.
Heavy items go in small boxes
Books, tools, and canned goods belong in small boxes. Use large boxes for light items like pillows and linens. A box you can't lift comfortably is too heavy.
Use matching box sizes
Uniform boxes stack securely in the truck. Grocery boxes and bags of different sizes shift and crush more easily.
Label two sides
Write the room and a short content list on at least two sides, not just the top, so labels are visible when boxes are stacked.
Bag your hardware
When you take apart furniture, put screws and bolts in a labeled zip bag and tape it to the piece it belongs to.
Keep these off the truck
Carry cash, jewelry, passports, medications, and important documents with you. Movers also can't transport hazardous items like propane tanks, paint thinner, or fireworks.
