The best time to declutter is before you pack. Go room by room and ask one question about each item: will I use this in my new home?
Closets
Donate clothes and shoes you haven't worn in a year. Toss worn-out items and extra hangers.
Kitchen
Remove duplicate utensils, chipped dishes, unused appliances, and expired pantry items.
Living room
Measure your new space. Furniture that won't fit or match is often cheaper to replace than to move.
Bathroom
Throw away expired medicines and old toiletries. Use up what you can before moving day.
Storage areas
Basements, storage cages, and under-bed boxes hide the most clutter. Open every box before it goes on the truck.
